The fourth edition of the International Summer School on Geometry, Mechanics, and Control will be held in Santiago de Compostela (Spain) and will take place on July 5-9, 2010. The school is oriented to young researchers, Ph.D. and postdoctoral students in Mathematics, Physics and Engineering. It is intended to present an up-to-date view of some fundamental issues in topics around three axes: Geometry, Mechanics and Control, with a clear relation, and bring to the participants attention on some open problems, in particular related to applications. This Summer School is a post-graduate course of Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) on science and physical technologies within the activities of the Instituto de Ciencias Matematicas (ICMAT) http://www.icmat.es/seminarios/GEMEOPCO2010 , and is organised within the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) and the Geometry, Mechanics and Control Network (www.gmcnetwork.org). Programme (Courses) Aspects of Subriemannian geometry and Applications in Control Theory and Physics (Roger Brockett, Harvard University, USA) Four lectures on geometric control theory (Fatima Leite, University of Coimbra, Portugal) The N-body problem: differential geometry, group theory, and topological methods and perspectives (Richard Montgomery, University of California, Santa Cruz, USA) Scholarships not later than April 15, 2010. Registration not later than May 15, 2010. |
