The Spanish Society of Applied Mathematics turns twenty-five in 2016
The SeMA was legally founded on February 25, 1993, although its origins date back to 1988, the year in which A. Valle, the first president of the Society, presided over a meeting in Chinchón in which the need to coordinate efforts to consolidate the growing activity in applied mathematics in the Spanish territory. In 1991, during the celebration of the XII CEDYA/II CMA at the University of Oviedo, more than one hundred Mathematics professionals supported the creation of the Society, registering as members. By the end of 1992, SEMA had more than 200 registered members, the company's statutes had been approved, and the first two volumes of the SEMA Bulletin had been published.
At the meeting of the Executive Committee of the company held on January 15, 2015, the Committee for the acts of the 25th anniversary of the SEMA was constituted, in charge of coordinating the acts of celebration of the first 25 years of existence of the company. This committee, made up of

The opening ceremony of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of SEMA was held in Oviedo, on June 8, 2016, as a special activity within the XVII Jacques-Louis Lions Hispanic-French School on Numerical Simulation in Physics and Engineering (Program, Photos).
